Residents were able to escape after a fire broke out and caused significant damage to their house in Lake in the Hills early Monday morning, fire officials said. The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded around 1:35 a.m. Monday to the 800 block of Willow Street in Lake in the Hills.
Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District Chief John Knebl said the incident was initially dispatched as an inside smoke investigation in a single-family home. Fire crews arrived in under three minutes and found smoke showing from the two-story residence.
The call was upgraded to a Working Fire response to bring additional resources to the scene. Knebl said all of the occupants in the home had safely evacuated prior to the fire department arriving.
