VIDEO/PHOTOS: A downed power line extending from a utility pole to a house causes electrical arcing and a fire. Just before 1:30 p.m. June 3, Belvidere Fire Department responded to the 700 block of John Street for reports of a fire caused by sparking wires.
ComEd was immediately notified to disconnect the power, and barricades were put in place to secure the area for public safety. The fire was extinguished just after 2 p.m. and no injuries were reported. The fire department reminds residents to stay away from downed power lines and to report electrical hazards immediately.
