VIDEO/PHOTOS: A 42-year-old woman was killed overnight in a Douglas County house fire, the Sheriff’s Office said. The sheriff’s office identified her as Jennifer Chandler.
The fire happened in the Village of Garrett at Adams and 3rd Streets around 2:11 a.m. Thursday morning. Adam Weinstock, the Chief Deputy of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, said in a release that deputies received reports of a house fire, and first responders arrived to find a single-level home engulfed in flames.
By the time the fire was extinguished, the home was burned beyond repair, Weinstock said, and first responders found Chandler dead. One neighbor, Jessica Jacobs, heard loud noises when it happened, and decided to step outside to see what was going on.
