Obituary: Jacob Brollier former Great Basin Smokejumper at the National Fire Center in Boise

Jacob was born on January 31, 1974 in Boise, Idaho to Philip Brollier and Twyla Carmean (Brollier). He attended Boise Schools and graduated from Boise High School the class of 1992. At Boise High. He was the (O) in Boise on the Cheer Team. He was a very serious student and spent many late nights on assignments in order to do his very best. Jacob also attended Boise State University in the winter to continue his education and earned the degree of Bachelor of Arts Communication in May of 2001.

Jacob began his firefighting career as a hot shot in Arizona from 1992-1994. He dug a lot of fire line! He then followed the Brollier tradition and became a smokejumper by completing the training at the Redding, CA Smokejumper Base from 1995-1996. In 1997 he joined the Great Basin Smokejumpers at the National Fire Center in Boise. ID. Jacob was famous for nailing the jump spot on practice jumps on Family Day held in May each year. From 1997-2023 he accrued a total of 469 jumps of which 199 were fire jumps. He retired from smokejumping in 2024. During the summer of 2025 he contracted out with the Salida Fire Department of Colorado to get more experience with fire engines. On December 5, 2025 he passed away from heart failure.
