Jerome Fire Department receives new ladder truck after two-year wait

VIDEO: The Jerome City Fire Department has taken delivery of a new fire ladder truck, with firefighters currently undergoing extensive training on the upgraded equipment. The new vehicle arrived two years after the Jerome City Council and mayor invested in the fire department by ordering the replacement truck. The modern truck replaces a 25-year-old truck that had served the department for more than two decades.

Firefighters have been spending hours training with Rosenbauer, the truck’s manufacturer, to become familiar with all the new components and technology integrated into the vehicle. “The new technology coming out all the time is, it helps speed things up without being unsafe,” said Mike Harrison, Fire Chief. “So in our line of work, seconds matter, seconds count. So anything we can do to make things safer and faster is always needed.”

The new ladder truck is specifically designed to keep pace with Jerome’s expanding population and new developments throughout the city. The vehicle features a 101-foot ladder and a larger water pump, providing enhanced capabilities for emergency response situations.
