The Jerome County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a “suspicious fire” at an Eden motel on Sunday. The fire began during the afternoon in one of the rooms facing Interstate 84 at the Amber Inn Motel just off Exit 182. Firefighters from the First Segregation Fire District quickly put out the fire before it spread through the building. While there was no apparent exterior damage, various items and plastic were littered across the entrance to the room. The front entrance reeked of burned plastic.
One firefighter said they had declared the fire area an active crime scene. Deputies on scene said they cannot confirm at this time if the fire is a result of arson. They stated that they do not know much about the cause of the fire and cannot provide additional information at this time.
