VIDEO: Firefighters quickly extinguished a garage fire Sunday morning in south Meridian, preventing flames from spreading throughout the house. The Meridian Fire Department stated it received a call around 11:20 a.m., after a neighbor spotted flames and smoke emerging from a garage in the 1000 block of South Muscovy Avenue. Police said Battalion Chief 31 arrived first and found active flames in the attic area above the garage. Engine 36 and additional fire crews also responded. The coordinated response limited fire damage, with minimal extension into the home’s main living areas. Homeowners and their pets evacuated safely before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported among residents or emergency personnel. The department said Intermountain Gas and Idaho Power also responded to secure the scene and address utility concerns. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
