Coeur d’Alene Fire Department shares update as firefighter injured in shooting continues recovery

The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department shared an update on the firefighter who was injured in an ambush shooting in June. CDAFD says Dave Tysdal was shot in the back, which collapsed his left lung, damaged his clavicle, shattered several ribs, and caused spinal swelling. He is being treated at a specialty hospital in Colorado.

“Dave, Annie and their children would like to thank the community and folks from all over the United States for their continued support. Though Dave is still unable to move his legs, his gunshot wound, clavicle, lungs, and arm strength are getting better and better each day. We canโ€™t thank everyone enough for supporting us through this difficult time,” wrote the fire department on Facebook.

The fire department said in July that doctors are hopeful Tysdal’s ability to move his legs will return when swelling subsides.
