A child was killed and a driver was seriously injured in a vehicle fire on Sunday afternoon just west of St. Maries in Benewah County.
Idaho State Police says it is investigating the fire that broke out just after 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 24 on Reeds Creek Road.
The driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old man, was taken to the hospital via life flight and is being treated for serious injuries. ISP says a child passenger died at the scene, and another child passenger was uninjured and released from the scene.
ISP says the cause of the fire is under investigation and the roadway was closed for nearly four hours on Sunday but has since reopened.
