VIDEOS: 16 people are now displaced, after a car crashed into an apartment building on North Garrett Street in Garden City.

Boise Fire and Garden City Fire both responded to the incident, which occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 21. Upon arrival, they found a car crashed into the first floor of an apartment complex, said a spokesperson for Boise Fire. Both the car and the apartment then caught fire. Crews were able to quickly extract the driver of the car while working to extinguish the fire and evacuate remaining residents. The driver of the car was then transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Three additional people reported injuries but were cared for at the scene and released.

The Boise Fire spokesperson stated that the fire was contained to the ground-floor apartment, and the cause remains under investigation at this time.

Roughly 16 occupants of these apartments were displaced due to this incident. Boise Fire said that the Local 149 Burnout Fund and TIPS responded and are aiding families impacted. Boise Fire’s Division Chief of Operations Aaron Hummel spoke to KTVB that fire investigators will be present for some time, possibly throughout the night to monitor the situation.
