1 dead, 16 displaced after fire at mobile home park in Burley

One person is dead, and 16 residents were displaced early Friday after a fire at a mobile home park just outside city limits. Burley Fire Department Fire Chief Tolman said its firefighters were sent to the scene just before 1 a.m. After reports of a structure fire with one occupant unaccounted for. Arriving firefighters found one mobile home fully engulfed in flames, spreading to neighboring homes. The department said the fire burned with such intensity that it consumed an adjacent home within minutes.

Officials said two mobile homes were destroyed, and a third was significantly damaged before firefighters put out the fire. Multiple vehicles were also lost. The displaced families are receiving assistance from the Burley Firefighters Local 3308 burnout fund and the American Red Cross, the department said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
