Wildfire reported in Hamakua District, no structures threatened HFD says

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) confirmed that a wildland fire was reported in the Hamakua District on Wednesday afternoon. HFD reported at approximately 1:18 p.m. that a wildland fire was seen between the 43 and 44 mile markers off of highway 19, near Honokaโ€™a between Plumeria St. and Tex Drive-in.

Officials are advising the public that they may see smoke in the area and that no structures are threatened at this time. No road closures are currently in place, but commuters should expect traffic delays in the area and to avoid the area. No other information has been provided at this time.
