Waimanalo fire causes partial roof collapse in two-story home

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) extinguished a fire at a two-story home in a secluded area of Waimanalo in Windward Oahu on Friday that left two residents without a home. HFD responded to a 911 call they received for a fire at a home on Waikupanaha Street at 12 p.m. on July 25. Once at the house, they found the second floor of the home fully in flames. Fire officials said the fire has caused the partial roof collapse on the second floor. HFD reported there was a 124-gallon propane tank in the vicinity of the fire on the first floor lanai. Firefighters immediately used a defensive strategy to cool the propane tank while attacking the fire. Two residents inside the home were able to exit safely on their home. Neither of them were need of medical attention. The fire left the two residents displaced and American Red Cross was notified to provide further assistance. At least a half dozen fire trucks on scene battling the fire, however, firefighters got the fire under control at 1:06 p.m. The fire was fully extinguished at 2:56 p.m.
