A man was flown to a Kona hospital after officials say he was apparently bitten by a reef shark. The attack occurred Tuesday at around 4:30 p.m. in Naalehu, according to officials. Sources said the man was treated for a bite mark on his inner thigh, which matches the size of a six-foot shark. Firefighters bandaged the man at the scene before he was airlifted out from Waiohinu Park. The man’s condition was not immediately available.
