PHOTOS: A brush fire reported in Haʻikū near West Kuiaha Road and the Hāna Highway burned approximately one acre before it was extinguished as of 3:28 p.m., Friday. Fire officials say the blaze was first reported at 1:23 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2025. Crews arrived to find a fire burning in the brush along the road. Flying embers ignited brush areas on both sides of the road, necessitating the temporary closure of Hāna Highway. Firefighters extended hose lines to attack and extinguish the fire. Responding units included: Engine 2, Engine 5, Engine 10, Tanker 10, Tanker 14 and a battalion chief. No structures were threatened and no damages were reported.
