A hiker was taken in serious condition after being rescued from Diamond Head Crater Trail in Kahala on Monday morning. According to the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD), crews responded to the trail at 11:37 a.m. after reports of a distressed hiker. It was reported that a 63-year-old woman was hiking, became dizzy while on the trail, fell and hit the back of her head, and couldn’t continue on her own. Rescuers arrived at the woman’s side at 11:54 a.m., performed a medical assessment, provided basic life support treatment, and transferred her to a nearby landing zone. The woman’s care was transferred to the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at 12:18 p.m. EMS reported that they took the woman to a nearby emergency room in serious condition.
