Honolulu firefighters airlift injured paraglider to safety

In the Makapuu area, Honolulu Fire Department responded to an injured paraglider. The incident took place in Hawaii Kai on Tuesday around 2 p.m. It was reported that a man in his 20s was paragliding in the area and crashed into the mountain above Makapuu Beach. HFD said they had air 1 insert rescue personnel to the paragliderโ€™s location where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. Air 1 then safely airlifted the paraglider to the nearby landing zone. Medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 3:04 p.m. EMS treated the patient for a possible head injury and other injuries and transported him to an emergency room. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries
