Warner Robins neighbor describes ‘explosion-like’ fire that killed a 41-year-old and injured a firefighter

VIDEO: Investigators returned to Horseshoe Drive on Friday, searching for answers after a house fire left one man dead and a firefighter injured late Thursday night. Emergency crews were called to the home just off Dunbar Road around 10:40 p.m. after 911 callers reported heavy smoke and flames pouring from the house, while many expressed fears that someone might be trapped inside. Firefighters entered the burning home and pulled out Michael Toole, 41, who, according to officials, was taken to Emory Hospital in Warner Robins, where he died from his injuries. Toole’s body will be sent to the GBI crime lab for autopsy. Authorities say the firefighter who suffered minor burns is expected to recover. No further information will be released about Toole until the investigation concludes. Neighbor Jamie Broussard said the fire was unlike anything she had ever witnessed.
