Savannah firefighters rescue two people from river

Savannah firefighters say they rescued two people from the Savannah River early Friday morning. IAFF Savannah Firefighters say they were called at 3:26 a.m. about two people that had fallen into the river near Plant Riverside. They say they got reports that one person had fallen into the river when another person dove into the river in an attempt to rescue them. Both people ended up in distress and were unable to get out of the river. Firefighters say Marine 2 was sent from the City dock and found both people clinging to a pillar. Both people were taken from the water and checked out by EMS. Crews say there was a strong tide at the time of the incident.
