VIDEO: Atlanta firefighters put their lives on the line every time they respond to a call, and now there is a plan to provide them with a little relief. “This is a way to increase recruitment and retention,” Taos Wynn with Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation said. The Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation partnered with Operation Hope to expand support for Atlanta’s firefighters through a new housing relief program. “And so, this particular program allows firefighters to receive a stipend up to $1,000 for 12 consecutive months. But that’s not it. In addition to that, firefighters are also receiving financial literacy through our partnership with Operation Hope,” Wynn said. As it stands now, a lot of firefighters do not currently live in the city of Atlanta, so the goal is to be able to provide a pathway where they can live in the city they serve.
