Houston County home ‘total loss’ after fire, fire chief says

Houston County Fire Department says a fire burned a home to the ground Tuesday afternoon, according to Houston County Fire Chief Christopher Stoner.

He confirmed his crews battled a fire in the 400 block of Story Road. That road stretches from Dunbar and Elberta Roads.

Stoner says the call came in at around 6:25 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The person inside the home was able to get out but, as soon as fire crews arrived, the home was already engulfed in flames, according to Stoner.

He says that the home will be a total loss.

Stoner says they have not determined what caused the fire, but he says it does not appear to be suspicious.

The Houston County Fire Department’s investigative division was working on the scene to figure out the exact cause of the fire.
