Fire under investigation after blaze in Macon, fire department says

Macon-Bibb firefighters responded to a fire on 720 Tidewater Circle early Sunday morning.

Chief Gibson with the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department said they received a call around 3 a.m. Sunday to respond to the fire.

A two-story apartment was on fire on the first and second floors, according to the lead fire investigator, Capt. Kyle Murray.

Murray said in a media release that “crews initiated a defensive attack and deployed master stream operations utilizing ladder trucks to control and extinguish the blaze.”

Murray also said that a nearby apartment was evacuated as a precautionary measure and to “ensure resident safety.”

No one was in the apartment at the time of the fire, according to Murray, and it “appeared to be under construction or renovation.”
