Fire guts Cobb County restaurant, reduces building to rubble

A fire gutted an East Cobb restaurant, leaving only rubble and a charred building early Tuesday morning. The fire happened just around 8 a.m. at Chin Chin restaurant. Cobb County Police posted on Facebook that the response to the fire caused heavy traffic delays on Johnson Ferry Road and Lower Roswell Road. Although the lanes have since reopened, the restaurant has police tape surrounding the heavily damaged building, marking off what remains.

The 11Alive SkyTracker flew over the damage after the fire was put out. The roof of the restaurant appears to be partially collapsed, with charred beams and debris visible inside. The walls are still standing, but the interior seems to be destroyed. It’s unclear if anyone was hurt. According to the restaurant’s website, the location is temporarily closed for “renovation.”
