Eastman Fire Department celebrates new engine with wet-down tradition

VIDEO: Eastmanโ€™s newest fire engine was given a holy treatment on Saturday. The Eastman Fire Department came together to ring in their newest fire engine by christening it. The vehicle was blessed and prayed over. Several people also came together to help with the special wet-down tradition, which is where water is used to clean the newly commissioned engines. Attendees got an opportunity to tour the new fire engine and take a look at all of its features. Alongside the new fire engine, there were also opportunities for attendees to meet the Eastman firefighters and their mascot, Sparky. There were also games and events for kids to participate in. Interim Fire Chief Derl Maxwell said the project got started by former Chief Scott Whitten, who wasnโ€™t able to see the project come into fruition.
