Decatur County unveils new Emergency Services Center building

VIDEO: Decatur County is set to construct a new “Emergency Services Center” that will house its fire department headquarters, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the 911 dispatch center, county officials said. The county said the building will be “modern and efficient” as they are looking for it to handle hurricane-force winds for better response capabilities. Commissioner Pete Stephens shared he hopes expanding resources like this will push Decatur County toward a promising future. “We want controlled growth that would continue to give our people the benefit to keep our children at home with jobs,” he said. Stephens said he believes this new building will make a huge difference for residents and first responders. “It goes back to safety again and protecting them as well as our citizens with it being there in one area,” he said.
