Crews worked to put out what remained of a church fire in Austell.
The fire took place at Prayer City Eagles Chapel International Ministries on 3100 Joe Jerkins Boulevard. According to the fire chief, the first responding units found flames coming from the roof at the front of the building around 9 p.m. Monday.
An Atlanta News First crew with the First Alert Breaking News Tracker was able to see several Austell and Cobb County fire crews battling the flames for hours after the first emergency call came in.
The fire department says the fire possibly started in the sanctuary, as one wing of the church may be saved, “but there is fire and water damage throughout.”
No injuries were reported, according to Austell Fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
