2 injured in Chatham County explosion

Two minors were injured in an explosion Tuesday, Chatham Fire said. The Chatham County Fire Department responded and began fire suppression measures and treated two victims. A minor was transported to a local hospital with burns to their hand and arms. A second minor was airlifted to the Augusta Burn Center with burns to the leg, chest, abdomen and arm. Chatham Fire announced the minor taken to a local hospital has now been transported to the Augusta Burn Center as well. A fire department spokesperson said both were conscious and alert. The explosion reportedly occurred after an accelerant was thrown on the fire. The Chatham County Fire Department responded to the call around 7 p.m. on North Copperfield Drive.
