Augusta Technical College said Monday itโs partnering with Columbia County Fire Rescue to provide firefighters with the opportunity to earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire and Emergency Services Occupation. This follows the announcement of a similar partnership with the Augusta Fire Department. This latest program is designed specifically for current Columbia County Fire Rescue employees, giving them access to advanced education that enhances their capabilities and strengthens the department as a whole. The five-term, 64-credit program will allow participating firefighters to achieve additional certifications, including Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Emergency Medical Technician and Advanced EMT. It will include a combination of academic instruction, hands-on training and real-world clinical experience. โThis opportunity reflects our commitment to growing from within,โ said Columbia County Fire Chief Jeremy Wallen.
