Albany family safe after house fire

Fire crews responded to a house fire early Tuesday morning on Newton Road in Albany.

According to officials on the scene, the call came in around 1:36 a.m. for a fire at a home located at the 2000 block of Newton Road. When crews arrived, flames had already spread through a large portion of the residence.

Firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the blaze, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. Everyone inside the home made it out safely.

Officials estimate that 40 to 50 percent of the home was damaged in the fire. The cause remains under investigation by the Albany Fire Department.
