VIDEOS: No injuries reported after 3-alarm fire at Orlando apartment complex – ‘A lot of flames’

A three-alarm fire damaged several units at an Orlando apartment complex on Saturday evening. Officials with the Orlando Fire Department said crews responded to the the fire at the Millenium Cove apartments in the 4600 block of Cason Cove Drive around 7 p.m. โ€œI was terrified. Iโ€™m scared of these types of things,โ€ witness Rooney Johnson told News 6. Several residents of apartment complex off Cason Cove Drive expressed their thankfulness for surviving the intense fire. โ€œIt was just a lot of flames. Iโ€™m just glad everybody got out safely,โ€ Stephanie Williams, another witness, said.

No injuries were reported to residents or firefighters. Officials said that the flames were so intense that after 25 minutes, they had to pull out of the fire and readjust. โ€œThis was a big fire,โ€ Assistant Chief Corey Philman said. โ€œThey had heavy fire involvement and a lot of thick, dark smoke. You could see the column from downtown.โ€ The Orlando Fire Department initially reported that 16 people were displaced and that the Red Cross was assisting them.

The Red Cross said early Saturday that its volunteers worked late into the night to assess the damage and provide emergency assistance for 31 people, including seven children. The assistant chief said that firefighters werenโ€™t sure which units are salvageable and which are a total loss. Some people are still wondering if they have a home. โ€œItโ€™s just one building that looks like it burned in the back, and there were flames up at the top as well when I walked out of my apartment,โ€ said resident Stephanie Williams.
