A new asset has been approved for Panama City Beach first responders. The unified command bus will allow the police and fire departments to operate from a centralized location.
We are told it will be used for events that require operations outside of their headquarters, such as special events or natural disasters.
First responders said the command bus will be self-sustained, allowing them to operate out of it for several days at a time. “It is another great accomplishment, and a true testament to the support that the public safety professionals in our area get from our community leaders, not only here locally, but from the statewide level,” said J.R. Talamantez, the Panama City Beach Police Chief. “You know, we are only as good as the partnerships that we build, and when it comes to public safety, partnerships are key.”
Chief Talamantez added that as the city grows, they need to expand their equipment to meet that growth and to navigate any public safety challenges.
