VIDEO: South Trail Fire and Rescue responded to a residential structure fire Sunday caused by a non-permitted lithium-ion battery-powered energy storage system. The fire broke out at a home in the Danforth Lakes community, off Palomino Lane, north of Daniels Parkway near I-75. The homeowners called 911 and evacuated the home. South Trail crews reported seeing smoke and flames escaping from the front of the home when they arrived. One firefighter was treated on scene for a heat-related illness but was not transported to the hospital. No occupants of the home were injured.
