House under construction catches fire at Alys Beach

A house under construction caught fire at Alys Beach on Wednesday. Upon arrival, South Walton Fire District found a broken gas line that was feeding the fire, said Mackenzie McClintock, South Walton Fire District public information officer.

โ€œTheir immediate response was to open up a couple of hose lines, get some what flowing and then work with the local utilities personal to get the gas lines shut off and bring the fire under control,โ€ McClintock told NewsChannel 7.

No one was inside of the home at the time, and no one was injured, McClintock confirmed. The firefighters worked to get the fire under control to prevent it from spreading to neighboring homes, McClintock said. No other structures were impacted by the fire.

Firefighters extinguished a house fire after utilities shut off the gas, McClintock said. The home sustained moderate damage.
