Fire station open house in Sarasota County helps take mystery out of public service careers

VIDEO: Saturday, neighbors had a chance to meet some of the people whoโ€™ve made a career of saving lives on the Suncoast. It was part of a day-long open house at Sarasota County fire station number four located off Old Bradenton Road. Attendees had the chance to meet firefighters, emergency medical technicians and other support staff in whatโ€™s become a monthly event at different fire stations across Sarasota County. โ€œWe want to get to know the communities that we serve and protect and have them learn more about the job that we do, and how we do it each day, โ€œ said Sarasota County Fire Battalion Chief Gregory Earl. People even had a chance to operate a hose attached to a fire truck to get a better understanding of the force, and power needed to fight and control flames.
