Fire in North Fort Myers hospitalizes two, kills family dogs

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Authorities responded to a house fire in North Fort Myers Tuesday night, which sent two people to the hospital. Around 9:30 p.m., authorities responded to a call on 100 Amber Avenue, within the Mobile Manor community near Bayshore Road. WINK News was at the scene on Amber Avenue, where the house is now completely burned out. The front walls are gone, and burnt furniture and debris are scattered out front.

The fire department faced challenges due to clutter in the home, making it difficult to reach the flames. North Fort Myers firefighters said hoarding inside made it tough for crews to get through the doors on Tuesday night. Four people lived in the homeโ€”a couple, their son, and their grandson. Two were injured; one was airlifted, and the other was taken by ambulance. Neighbors described the fire as large and alarming.

“I was just in the kitchen, and I heard two booms,” a neighbor said. “I thought it was fireworks, and then I heard sirens. I thought it was a TV, but I look outside, and then the sirens and the lights are outside of my house, and I look out the window. Big fire, that thing was, like, at least three stories high.” Another neighbor added, “It looked like a wildfire. It was really, really big.”
