Bay County approves construction of new fire station

VIDEO: Fountain residents will soon have a new fire station. The nearly $3.6 million project will go to building the Fountain Community Center right off Highway 20. The 10,000 square-foot brick facility will replace the condemned East Hiland Fire Station. We are told this project will strengthen emergency response in the area. The fire station will be part of a larger Fountain Community Center. โ€œWeโ€™ve been working on this for the last four to five years, and weโ€™ve been able to get the funds approved through USDA funds as well as other funds,โ€ said Bay County Commissioner Doug Moore. โ€œFrom that, weโ€™re gonna be able to build this new complex. Itโ€™s gonna be part of the overall sports complex and everything weโ€™re doing over in Fountain.โ€œ
