Video shows a fire that broke out Tuesday at a northeast Miami-Dade apartment building, prompting evacuations.
The fire was reported before 4 a.m. in a fourth floor unit at the Canongate building on Northeast 195th Street, where footage shows bright orange flames and heavy smoke.
The building was evacuated, and residents on the fourth and fifth floors are unable to return.
“There was smoke everywhere and I could smell the fire, so I ran to my balcony. I was like, alright, we gotta get out of here. So I grabbed as much stuff as I could and I just ran out,” one woman said.
No injuries were reported, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The family who lived in the unit told NBC6 that they are physically OK, but they have not been able to find their dog, who was with them when the fire broke out.
Investigators could be seen into the early morning walking around the charred unit. They were able to put out the flames, but continued to clear the smoke as they allowed some residents to get back inside.
