One injured after Hillsborough crews battle blaze that scorched apartment building

One person was injured, and an apartment building was destroyed after a fire in Tampa. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded just before 8:27 p.m. on Sunday to the building on North 21st Street after there were multiple 911 calls reporting flames.

They arrived and found heavy fire coming from the back of the upstairs part of the two-story building. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control within 20 minutes and confine it to the upstairs apartment where it started.

Fire crews searched the building and said nobody was inside. Every one safely evacuated before the firefighters’ arrival, and one person was transported to the hospital with a minor injury. Officials are working to determine the cause of the fire.
