DC firefighters rescue critically injured man from apartment fire

A man was taken to the hospital with what fire officials described as โ€œcritical life threatening injuriesโ€ after he was rescued from a burning apartment in Southeast DC Saturday afternoon.

According to officials, the man was pulled out of an apartment on the second floor of the building in the 800 block of East Capitol Street, Southeast.

They have not indicated what might have caused the fire, but investigators were asked to come to the scene.
