1 displaced after rowhome blaze in Southeast DC

VIDEO: DC firefighters battled a blaze at a rowhome in Southeast early Tuesday morning. According to firefighters at the scene, the home was vacant at the time of the response. Crews were dispatched to the 1500 block of 19th Street Southeast for a report of a fire at a two-story middle rowhome just before 4 a.m. Once on scene, firefighters saw flames and smoke pouring from the home. As crews worked to put out the flames, they were ordered to evacuate the house and fight the fire from the outside because of concerns that the building could collapse. Firefighters were eventually able to bring the fire under control. Some flames extended to the attached home on the right. The person who lives in the neighboring home was displaced because of firefighting efforts. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The cause remains under investigation.
