VIDEO: A new class of firefighters has joined the ranks of Hartfordโs bravest. The cityโs fire department held a graduation and promotion ceremony Friday, welcoming community members, firefighters, city leaders, families and friends at the Governorโs Foot Guard in Hartford.
โToday we celebrate courage, sacrifice, and new beginnings,โ one speaker said. โIโm reminded of a story of a little child who, when asked what a firefighter does, simply said, โThey run towards what everyone else runs away from.โ That childโs words capture the heart of this calling.โ The new firefighters will be assigned to various posts at firehouses across the city.
