VIDEO: A new class of firefighters has joined the ranks of Hartford’s bravest. The city’s fire department held a graduation and promotion ceremony Friday, welcoming community members, firefighters, city leaders, families and friends at the Governor’s Foot Guard in Hartford.
“Today we celebrate courage, sacrifice, and new beginnings,” one speaker said. “I’m reminded of a story of a little child who, when asked what a firefighter does, simply said, ‘They run towards what everyone else runs away from.’ That child’s words capture the heart of this calling.” The new firefighters will be assigned to various posts at firehouses across the city.
