A house in Old Lyme was destroyed by a fire Wednesday morning. Fire crews said they were called to 19 Brookside Ave. at about 1:42 a.m. for a fully-involved structure fire. No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported. Fire officials also confirmed that there were no pets in the home.
While the home was considered a near-total loss, the fire caused heat damage to the siding of a neighboring house. However, that home did not catch fire, and no residents were harmed. The last of the fire trucks prepared to clear the scene around 4:15 a.m. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
