Waterbury fire officials say a firefighter was injured responding to a multifamily house fire Friday morning.
Crews were dispatched to the two and a half story wood frame structure on the 100 block of Sylvan Avenue around 8:30 a.m.
Fire Capitan Patridge said the heavy fire was knocked down at 8:54 a.m. after firefighters had to cut a hole into the structure’s roof to vent the fire.
The injured firefighter was transported to a hospital with “not serious” injuries, Patridge said. He mentioned hoarding conditions made “interior operations” difficult.
Waterbury police detectives and fire investigators are actively investigating the fire, including the circumstances around it. No other injuries were reported.
