Crews monitor fire at warehouse in New Haven

Firefighters battled a fire at a waste containment building in New Haven Monday evening. Crews continued to monitor for hot spots Tuesday morning at the warehouse on Middletown Avenue.

They said they arrived at at the scene around 6:15 p.m. on Monday and saw heavy fire from the building. A rain protector on the roof of the structure collapsed, they reported. The bulk of the fire was knocked down.

Officials told Channel 3 that excavators were then used to sort through the junk inside the building so crews could soak it to control any hotspots. No injuries were reported.
