VIDEO: Two West Hartford firefighters had minor injuries after a house fire Tuesday. Firefighters went to the single-family home on Dayton Lane at 5:29 p.m., finding a “large volume of fire” coming from the back and side of the home. It involved the lower-level garage, the back deck, several trees and a car in the driveway.
The sole occupant of the home was uninjured and safe outside with two pets, the West Hartford Fire Department said. The Red Cross is assisting them with relocation. The two firefighters with minor injuries required evaluation, WHFD said.
Firefighters extinguished flames in the interior and exterior of the home, according to WHFD. They placed the fire under control within 45 minutes of arriving.
West Hartford police, AMR and the UConn Fire Department assisted at the scene and the New Britain Fire Department, Newington Fire Department and Avon Fire Department helped provide station and town coverage during the incident. The West Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
