14 people displaced following Bridgeport fire

Fourteen people have been displaced following a fire Sunday in Bridgeport.
Firefighters responded to Connecticut and Union Avenues for a fire at a commercial building at 12:15 a.m.

City officials say the 14 people lived in a home adjacent to the building. Cassandra Maldonado says she rushed to get her mom out of the house. “I had to literally keep telling her, let’s go let’s go because the explosions were getting bigger,” she says.

The fire was put out three hours later, but briefly reignited at 4:50 a.m., according to city officials.
The rekindled fire was quickly put out. No one was injured. The Red Cross is assisting with relocating the residents.
