VIDEO: While enduring below-freezing temperatures, crews were able to rescue a trapped horse near Ault, according to a social media post from the Ault-Pierce Fire Department. On Sunday, around 2:24 p.m., the Ault-Pierce Fire Department responded to a report about a horse that was trapped after falling into a large ditch. When the crews arrived, they discovered that the horse was uninjured.
The rescue was not as simple as pushing the horse out and going home to a warm, comfy bed. Crews were hard at work for over three hours in sub-20-degree weather, with a 16-degree wind chill. A crane with a pulley was dropped into the trench, and the horse was secured before being heaved up and eventually reunited with its owners. The Ault-Pierce Fire Department offered a big thanks to the responding agencies and praised them for their dedication and teamwork.
