PHOTOS: If you’re going to run from the police, which is not advised, it is also advised that you do not run into a storm sewer in your attempt to hide. That’s according to members of West Metro Fire Rescue’s technical rescue team, who rescued a suspect who had been fleeing from law enforcement before getting stuck in a storm sewer on Wednesday night.
West Metro said that it responded to an “exposure” call on Wednesday evening in the 7800 block of West Mansfield Parkway. They found a male suspect standing in cold water, about 15 feet down, who was unable to get out of the sewer. The fire rescue agency said that the Lakewood Police Department told rescue workers that the person crawled through the water-filled drain to try and hide from police, but couldn’t extract himself. Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies were also at the scene.
