Pup rescued after falling 100ft on National Monument in Mesa County

VIDEO: A dog was rescued after falling over 100 feet at the National Monument, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said the dog and her owner were visiting from out of town and pulled over to enjoy the view. As her owner opened the door, deputies said the dog jumped out of the vehicle, ran towards the edge and fell over 100 feet before landing on a shelf.

Deputies responded with a dog catching pole and Mesa County Search and Rescue crews used ropes to pull the dog up. Despite the long fall, deputies said the dog was up and walking once rescuers got her over the edge. “Her owner was extremely grateful and took her to the emergency vet right away,” deputies said.
