Pueblo mourns sudden loss of Fire Deputy Chief Keith Novak

The Pueblo community is mourning the sudden loss of the Pueblo Fire Departmentโ€™s Deputy Chief Keith Novak. The Pueblo International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 3 announced on Tuesday morning, July 29, via social media that Deputy Chief Novak had unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, July 27.

Novak was a firefighter with the Pueblo Fire Department and was promoted to second-in-command duties by Pueblo Fire Chief Barb Huber in 2022. Novak dedicated 30 years of service to the Pueblo community and was a Local 3 member for 26 years. He was described by the IAFF Local 3 as a โ€œrespected leader, colleague, and public servant.โ€

โ€œHis loss is deeply felt throughout our department and the broader Pueblo community,โ€ the IAFF wrote. โ€œAt this time, our thoughts are with Deputy Chief Novakโ€™s family, friends, and loved ones. We ask for privacy for all who are grieving during this incredibly difficult time.โ€ Counseling and support services are available for those who are members of IAFF Local 3. Memorial services will be shared when arrangements are finalized.
